With a flat front and a gathered elasticised waistband – classy at the front, comfy at the back – and a choice of a curved or straight pocket, the Ladies Explorer Skirt is perfect for shopping, dinner with friends, school runs, beach picnics, with a singlet or tank top in Summer and tights or leggings in Winter. She’s going to be your best friend in the cupboard.
Available in 6 sizes, XS – XXL
Fabric Requirements:
A total of 1.8 meters or 2 yards. If you’d like a contrasting pocket and waistband lining, you’ll need 1.3m for the main body of the skirt and .5m for the pocket and lining (1.5y and .5y).
Tools needed:
- Sewing machine
- Overlocker (would be handy and quick but SO not necessary)
- Scissors
- Safety Pin
- Iron – for pressing seams and hems
- A quick unpick. Well, not really, but if you are bull-at-a-gateish like me, yeah you will. I’m not impatient, I’m enthusiastic.
Skill Level
An advanced beginner. You’ll need to know (or be willing to Google) how to:
- iron on interfacing
- top stitch
- stitch in the ditch

I love this skirt pattern! Very easy to cut out and sew…great directions. I made the size according to the measurements but it was a bit big so took in the elastic and the side seams. Next time I will size down. This is currently my favourite thing to wear 🙂
